TESTIMONIALS
Lee provides awesome workshops, I have always been told that if I was serious about photography, that I should invest in education as well as glass. I was not disappointed, Lee is a very good teacher, he makes sure you understand the concepts from a technical side, but far more importantly, from a creative side, he has a passion for what he does and it shows in his work. His humour and great story telling will make you feel right at home in a wonderful environment. I highly recommend his services, rated above the amount of stars allowed.
-Mark Burden, participant in Lee's Monochrome Magic in the Mountains workshop
I attended the Monochrome Magic workshop with Lee at the end of June. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Lee had faced a few challenges with the COVID virus continuously changing things and dealt with them professionally. The information updates were timely and made me feel at ease with the everchanging situation. The information received in the field as well as through an online session helped with seeing where I want to go with my photography. He was attentive and any questions were answered during the workshop as well as guidance after. I would highly recommend taking a workshop or one on one with Lee. A fantastic experience!
Tracey Halladay, participant in Lee's Monochrome Magic in the Mountains workshop
Just returned from Lee's Luscious Larches and Landscapes workshop. What a lovely and inspiring experience. We hiked to some wonderful locations in order to capture these beautiful trees at their best. Lee's enthusiasm for creating stunning, dramatic images is infectious. He was able to guide us through the classroom time and in the field to capture images that went beyond just the basic. As well his vibrant personality carried us along even when Mother Nature didn't cooperate as well as well as we had hoped (yes, it was rainy). He was great at spending time with each individual to help bring out the best in their work.
I would definitely attend another workshop with Lee - the weekend was jam packed with information, opportunities and friendship.
Catherine Page, participant in Lee's hiking-based Lucious Larches and Landscapes workshop
I spent four days with Lee guiding us through a very unique Photography Workshop this past weekend. Lee guided us through Kananaskis Park and Banff area to high meadows to capture the fall colours. "The Larch Experience". Lee's passion for the art of photography is inspiring in helping drive your own creativity, it was an experience I will never forget.
I would recommend when you are considering looking for a Landscape Photography Adventure, throwing in some hiking, you cannot make a mistake take a course with Lee.
Thomas Keigher, participant in Lee's hiking-based Lucious Larches and Landscapes
My son and I went out with Lee for a half day photography lesson in the mountains. We had an amazing time and learned a ton about photography as well as spending some much needed time in nature! Lee has a way of making the complex topic of photography meaningful and simple to understand. He’s a great mountain tour guide as well! I would highly recommend this experience with Lee Nordbye Photography if you have an interest in nature and would like to dramatically improve your photography skills!

Daytime typically ranges from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), though it can feel warmer in the sun. Nighttime can drop to 0°C to -5°C (32°F to 23°F), especially at higher elevations. Light rain is common, and the first dusting of snow can occur in higher elevations. Be prepared for sudden changes in weather. Some mornings may bring frost, particularly in valley areas.
Weather in the Rockies can be unpredictable, but this often adds to the beauty and drama of the landscapes. We’ll hike rain or shine and adapt the itinerary if needed, but the workshop will proceed unless conditions are unsafe.
Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and must be capable of hiking a minimum of 9.5km (6 miles) with an elevation gain of 600m (1,970 feet) within a single day hike keeping a pace of roughly 3km/h (2mph).

We’ll hike as a group led by our expert guide to stunning locations, all the while putting new found photography skills into practice. Each evening will include dinner followed by a workshop session packed with photography lessons to be applied to the next day’s hike and breathtaking landscape.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in composing and capturing stunning landscapes, using natural light to your advantage, mastering camera settings for various conditions, techniques for storytelling through photography. On top of all of that, you will learn stories of the natural and human history of the Canadian Rockies from a professional interpretive guide.
To ensure a personalized experience, we keep our group size to a maximum of 10 participants. This allows Lee to spend time with each participant and provide tailored feedback.
